Practical Fire Solutions presents “The Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” Workbook for Fire Ground Hydraulics Instructor Manual written by Robert Culbertson.

This instructor manual has easy to follow illustrated charts and tables that students need to solve the problems without having to resource separate manuals. All charts follow along with the workbook and PowerPoint.

The Instructor Manual follows the same 11 Gallons Per Minute (GPM), 15 Total Pressure Loss (TPL) and 52 Pump Discharge Pressure (PDP) illustrated practical fire ground hydraulic problems found in the workbook. This is a total of 78 new, never before seen practical fire ground hydraulics problems. Actual problem illustrations in the book are black and white to keep the cost down for the fire personnel.

All station officers and instructors around the world have the same common goal. It is to educate their personnel, Apparatus Operators, and surrounding community fire departments when they are in the need of instruction and knowledge in fire ground hydraulic calculations. This is the reason that we, as company officers and instructors, should be able to sharpen  our personnel's skills and be able to instruct them on how to apply what they have learned in a safe, timely and accurate manner to the best of their ability. For this reason, we have developed the “Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” Workbook for Fire Ground Hydraulics Instructor Manual as an additional resource of teaching fire ground hydraulics calculations that may be encountered on the incident scene.

The “Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” Workbook for Fire Ground Hydraulics Instructor Manual is a teaching guide that can be used with our “Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” Workbook and the “Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” PowerPoint for the further study in fire ground hydraulics related to the fire service. This book is an aid to assist with instructing either a informal or formal class on how to calculate fire ground hydraulics. This will assist the instructor or company officer in showing examples of gallons per minute, total friction loss and pump discharge pressure problems. We have found that firefighters who study or practice practical fire ground hydraulics, either for knowledge or promotional purpose, usually exhaust the problems in all other manuals provided for them leaving them searching for more challenging problems to work. You can now apply the knowledge already received from instructional facilities or classes to pass on the knowledge to old, new, or upcoming fire department personnel and Apparatus Operators. The instructor manual follows the same flow as the workbook while putting the answers on the same page as the problem to allow the instructor to review the solution while students solve the problems on their own. The students workbook will have the answers in the back of the book so that they can solve the problems on their own and the instructor manual has the answers on the problem page so the instructor does not have to flip back and forth keeping the instruction in a steady, easy flow without disruption to the class.

The “Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” Workbook for Fire Ground Hydraulics Instructor Manual is a great teaching guide that can be used by itself.  It can also be with our “Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” Workbook and the “Fundamentals of Developing Fire Streams” PowerPoint for a more structured class.
